INDIANAPOLIS — A body was pulled from Eagle Creek Reservoir Friday morning in the same area where a boater went missing two days earlier after being blown off of a paddle boat.
According to the Pike Township Fire Department, the man and woman rented the paddle boat from the Eagle Creek Park Marina. They were issued life jackets but were not wearing them.
Officials say strong winds blew across the water around 4 p.m. and the man fell into the water a few hundred yards offshore. The woman went into the water after him and was joined by other people nearby who tried to help, but they were not able to find him.
The woman was brought back to shore and appeared to be okay, according to firefighters.
Emergency teams with divers were called to the park on the Indianapolis northwest side and searched into the night for the man, but he was not found.
Searches resumed Friday morning, according to DNR officials and a body was pulled from the water in the same area where the boater initially went missing.
DNR Captain Jet Quillen says they are still working to determine the identity of the person pulled from the water.
