INDIANAPOLIS – A new car rental facility was approved to be built on top of the Broad Ripple garage by the Metropolitan Board of Zoning Tuesday.
The Enterprise rental facility will include office space, a car wash and 20 spaces for rental cars.
Supporters of the project believe the build won’t create any noise or impact neighbors, but will provide a place for them to rent vehicles.
Those who oppose of the project said the public spent more than $6 million on the garage but aren't able to keep any of the revenue.

“The tax payers and this board deserve a project evaluation that could identify how and why this project is not performing, and possible remedies before entertaining any repurposing petition,” said Terry Sanderson, who lives in the area.
The board approved the rental car facility with a 3-2 vote, but the Broad Ripple Village Association voted against the build earlier this year.
