BROWN COUNTY — Brown County State Park and the Abe Martin Lodge will now be closed at least through the weekend.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said the amount of sediment in Lake Ogle, the park's water supply, remains too high to allow the production of potable water. Closure beyond the weekend will be determined as DNR watches the lake's condition and rainfall.

Campers who planned to stay at Brown County State Park have the opportunity to move their reservations to other DNR campgrounds. DNR said refunds are available to people who do not want to relocate to another park.

Guests at the Abe Martin Lodge are being offered rooms at other state park inns, and refunds and rescheduling are available.

Park staff, who received a supply of drinking water from the Civilian Crisis Response Team, are handling upkeep and maintenance at the park and inn.
