UPDATE: Brown County State Park and the Abe Martin Lodge will be closed through Sunday.

BROWN COUNTY — Brown County State Park and the Abe Martin Lodge will remain closed through Thursday as the park continues to deal with a lack of potable water following recent heavy rainfall.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said there is still too much runoff sediment in the system to allow for the production of drinking water. Water is drawn through Lake Ogle and treated at the park's in-house facility.

DNR said state parks staff members will contact people who made reservations through Thursday at the campground and Abe Martin Lodge with cancellation notices.

Closure beyond Thursday will be determined on a day-to-day basis.
