BROWN COUNTY, Ind. -- Brown County residents say they’ve been trying for over a year to get their pothole-filled road repaired, but they can’t get the county to respond to their concerns.
Tim Smith and his neighbors living along Grandview Road say the only thing they have to show for their begging is broken roads and damaged vehicles.
“Cars swerving to miss potholes… People are getting their vehicles tore up, plus rims, shocks. You name it, it’s happened,” Smith said. “This is the worst I’ve ever seen it and I’ve been out here 34 years.”
Neighbors say they have called the county multiple times, but none of them has ever gotten a return phone call.
But it isn’t just their own vehicles they’re worried about, neighbors say school buses have to deal with the same issues.
“I am so concerned about these kids. It’s a very very dangerous situation. Terribly dangerous,” Becky Hammack said.
The county highway department tells RTV6 it was too rainy and cold this season for the contracted company to come out and pave the street, but they do plan to focus on resurfacing sometime next spring.
