INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police are investigating a string of break-ins that have hit downtown condominiums and apartments.
For several months, a burglar has managed to use some very sophisticated methods to steal security codes to gain entry into buildings.
In the 700 block of Virginia Avenue, the same burglar has targeted the Hinge Building and the nearby Slate Apartments. On May 6, the burglar struck again, walking in and out of the building, accessing the lobby and using the elevator to gain access to the upper floors.
At one point, the security cameras capture his image while he passes a maintenance man in the building's entry way.
The thief stole chairs from the third and fourth floors, and he was able to steal the television from the fitness gym.
The thief also used the same method on Monday to gain access to the Circa complex in the 600 block of North College Avenue.
IMPD has warned residents to avoid sharing access codes and to avoid propping doors open. Police also warn against letting strangers into the building.
Police have described the suspect as a white male in his mid-30s, 5'10 to 6' tall with reddish-brown hair.
