INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis City-County Council committee had its eyes on the sky Wednesday night. Specifically, on drones.
A proposal introduced Wednesday would ban the use of drones during any official outdoor sporting event, either professional or amateur, and any event held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
But according to the FAA, the city doesn't have the power to regulate its airspace. That belongs solely to the FAA.
Additionally, the FAA already has a federal law on the books banning the use of drones over stadiums and sporting events one hour before and after events.
The discussion over the drone proposal was slated to come up again at the next public safety committee meeting.
