INDIANAPOLIS -- A warning before you go out to eat this weekend. The people next to you could be digging into your purse without you even noticing.

It happened to a Fishers woman in less than two minutes.

She had no idea what was going on until she received a fraud alert. To check on the alerts, she reached for her credit card. Her wallet was missing.

Surveillance video would point to a man and his coat.

As you can see in the video player above, two guys walked into the Ram restaurant in downtown Indianapolis and targeted the lady whose purse was dangling by her side on her chair.

Instead of just stealing the woman's purse, one of the men removed his coat and let the sleeve hover over the purse. The family celebrating a birthday did not notice that the man's hand was digging through her bag in search of a wallet.

The men left behind a financial mess. They spent $4,000 at Best Buy on East Washington Street. Buying not just one iTunes card, but 40 of them. Each was worth $100. They were also caught on camera at Marshalls, buying $322 worth of merchandise. And they ended their day by pulling into a nearby McDonald's.

Police are not seeing a rash of these thefts, but they would like to catch the men before they spoil another family's birthday. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
