AVON, Ind. -- A student from Avon High School and another teen were taken into custody Thursday after being accused of stealing a gun.
The district sent out a message to parents saying that a student may have been involved in a car break-in where a gun was stolen.
Police and school officials immediately questioned the student and searched the high school but no gun was found.
The school was never placed on lock down.
A man who lives in the Sunchase neighborhood off of County Road 100 in Avon said he left his car unlocked and two people stole a pistol out of the car.
Police say they found the gun in the neighborhood.
