Car crashes into Indy gas station, starts fire

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Wayne Township and Decatur Township fire departments were called to a gas station on the southwest side of Indianapolis Friday morning.

The driver of a car lost control and crashed into one of the gas pumps at a Marathon Gas Station near 2800 W. Kentucky Ave.

The crash caused a fire to break out, but the driver was able to escape. He was taken to Eskenazi Health in good condition.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating why the driver lost control.

The emergency shutoff valves activated on the pumps, preventing too much fuel from leaking. The fire was put out by firefighters in five minutes.

There were no other injuries in the incident.
