CARMEL, Ind. -- A Carmel couple was arrested last month when two of their six children were found malnourished and suffering from signs of physical abuse.

Quantae Johnson, 40, and Brandee Johnson, 42, both of Carmel, face two counts of child neglect and one count of obstruction of justice.

The couple was arrested August 30 after police began investigating a complaint of child abuse following the apprehension of their 14-year-old son, who had been reported as a runaway.

After being found, the teen was hospitalized for malnourishment and injuries consistent with child abuse.

A subsequent investigation found one of the teen's five siblings, a 13-year-old, was also malnourished and suffering from physical injuries consistent with abuse.

All six children were placed in the care of the Department of Child Services.

The Johnsons were booked into the Hamilton County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
