CARMEL, Ind. -- It’s been dubbed the great Carmel debate… or is it Caramel?

Either way, we’re about to find out because it all comes to a head on Wednesday in Hamilton County for National Caramel Day.

Werther's Original is making the sticky subject even sweeter as they take over the city to host a celebration along Main Street.

Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard has even agreed to change the city’s name to “Caramel” - but just for one day!

So the real question is: How do you pronounce it? Werther's wants to know and they'll be tallying up the votes.

Wednesday’s celebration will feature music, contests, treats and sweets along the Arts District from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.
