CARMEL, Ind. -- The city of Carmel has been named one of the 20 best cities to raise a child with asthma.
The Alen Corporation released their first annual list of asthma friendly cities this year.
Out of 20, Carmel was named the 13th best city to raise a child with asthma, noting that it's also listed as one of the safest cities to raise a child in the U.S. Carmel was also named #1 best place to live in 2012 by CNN Money Magazine.
Each city earned their ranking through an evaluation of air quality, crime rates, state graduation rates and proximity to top-rated hospitals and medical facilities.
But the top ranking factor was the city's pollution index.
Carmel's air quality rating of a 91.4/100 on top of these factors place it thirteenth on the list.
The number one city on their list was Waterloo Illinois with a 96.4/100 air quality rating, closely followed by Winona, Minnesota who has a 96/100 air quality rating.
