CARMEL, Ind. -- Carmel residents will see an increase for their water and sewer rates starting in March.
The Carmel City Council voted unanimously for the increase for City of Carmel Utilities' customers on January 4.
According to a press release from the City of Carmel, water rates have not been adjusted since 2011 and sewer rates have not been adjusted since 2012.
For a home with a 5/8 inch meter for 6,000 gallons of consumption, the monthly bill will be $27.84, an increase of $7.09.
The new sewer rate will have a flat increase of 9%. For a home with 6,000 gallons of monthly usage, the bill will be $32.80, an increase of $2.71.
The Carmel City Council also approved an automatic 3% annual cost of living adjustment that will take place January 1 of each year.
