DELPHI, Ind. -- As another month passes by without an arrest in the double murder of two teens in Delphi earlier this year, investigators continue to consider any connection a man arrested in Colorado could have to the case – but Daniel Nation’s wife says she “doubts” he was involved in the murders.
Daniel was arrested September 25 in Colorado Springs after police there matched his vehicle and description to a man who had been threatening hikers with a hatchet on the same trail where a man was shot and killed two weeks earlier.
Speaking to the Colorado Gazette this week, Daniel’s wife, Katelyn, said she ‘doubts’ he had anything to do with the murders of Libby and Abby. She also said she knows he never owned the jacket pictured in the image taken from Libby’s cell phone that day.

Katelyn said her husband “snapped” after they moved to Colorado, following the death of Daniel’s brother Edward Lyles earlier this year, and that his temper has gotten increasingly worse.
“I’m still afraid of him,” Katelyn told the Colorado Gazette. “He makes me nervous.”
But despite his anger issues, she said she isn't sure Daniel could be behind the murders.
Katelyn also said she "thinks" he was with her at her doctor's appointment.
"I can't say what time it was," she told the newspaper. "And there were a couple (appointments) that he didn't go to, but I always had the vehicle. "
After his arrest in Colorado, police there contacted Indiana State Police about possible connections between their case and the Delphi murders.
Since that day, a flurry of information and speculation has surrounded Daniel Nations. Indiana State Police called Daniel a "person of interest" in the Delphi murder and even traveled to Colorado to interview him That interview seemed to leave the public with more questions than answers after state police said they could neither connect Nations or clear him from the murders.
