INDIANAPOLIS -- Police released new details Monday in the shooting of a gas station clerk in hopes of identifying the suspect.
The clerk was shot during an attempted armed robbery last Friday morning at a Speedway gas station on Indianapolis' west side.
The suspect is known to be a regular customer at the gas station. He went up to the counter, used a lighter to light a cigarette and then left.
According to law enforcement, he returned about an hour later, approached the counter, pulled out a silver revolver and demanded money.
Police say the clerk ran toward the back room and was shot in the back by the suspect.
The victim ran out of the back door of the gas station and the suspect chased the clerk to the McDonald's next door.
The suspect got into a black Chevy Trailblazer and headed north on Girls School Road.
He's described as 5'9" - 5'11" tall, weighing 220 to 240 pounds, wearing all black clothing.
The 21-year-old cashier has been upgraded from critical to good condition..
