HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- An central Indiana musician is making hoping to make a mighty impact in the lives of law enforcement families that have been ripped apart by violence.
It’s been a tough year for law enforcement, and the holidays are an even tougher time for those whose families will have to celebrate without them.
Seeing the faces on some of these families, Rush County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Brinson decided to ask his brother-in-law- Craig B. Moore to use that heartbreak to create something that would help them heal.
Moore is a school administrator by day and a musician by night.
“There’s always lyrics’ running through my head. I write in my sleep I think. Sometimes I wake up and have thoughts and I write them down,” said Moore.
Moore spent a few days collecting his thoughts on fallen officers and wrote the song called ‘Thin Blue Line.’
“Hopefully it provides some comfort to survivors,” said Moore.
The song is available on iTunes and Google Play.
100 percent of the proceeds from Moore’s song will go to help men and women on the force and the families of fallen officers and deputies.
“It’s being shared all over the country, so we just got to keep hammering away,” said Moore.
Moore said he hopes to raise $10,000 for the local chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, to help the Hancock County Sheriff's Department buy protective vests and to help the Rush County Sheriff's Department purchase two additional K-9s.
THIN BLUE LINE
by: Craig B. Moore
Verse 1:
All she heard him say was I'm sorry ma'am
As her knees hit the floor and the screen door slammed
Her nightmare for years well it just came true
Now he's gone forever her hero and blue
He stood on that thin blue line for me and you
Chorus:A hero to some protector of all
He stood for something and took the fall
(1:On that thin blue line)
Night after night
in the fight for his life
all so I could live out mine
he stood on that thin blue line
Verse 2:As the kids wake from bed she raises her head
And wipes the tears from her eyes and tries to cover the red
Man what she's got to say there ain't no easy way
To say daddy's in heaven but we will be OK
cause he stood on the thin blue line for me and you
