Criminal charges were filed this week in a Hendricks County cold case dating back to 2002.

The body of 33-year-old Natalie Horsley was found in a construction site near Avon in Hendricks County on Nov. 21, 2002. Police said she had been beaten and strangled to death.

For years, no progress was made on the case, until IMPD detectives and the Indiana State Police Lab notified Hendricks County detectives of a potential lead.

Det. Lt. Scott Larsen, who was initially involved in the case in 2002 while a patrol officer, was tasked with investigating the lead.

As a result of his investigation, an arrest warrant was issued September 9 for Marco Galindo on one count of murder.

Galindo is currently in custody in Solano County Jail in Fairfield, California, on unrelated charges.

Police said Galindo would be transported back to Hendricks County to be formally advised of the charge against him.
