INDIANAPOLIS — No, Chewbacca won't make diving plays at shortstop, even though that would be a sight to see.
(Seriously, you can't beat the mental image of a 7-foot-5-inch Wookie gliding gracefully around the infield like a giant, furry Francisco Lindor.)
And, yes, the baseball rule book probably forbids the Indianapolis Indians batters from taking light sabers up to the plate.
(If they don't allow steroids, the dark lords of baseball certainly won't take kindly to players using powerful weapons that could send baseballs flying off to a galaxy far, far away.)
Still, it's always fun when baseball and Star Wars are combined.
So mark your calendar for Saturday, May 4 when the Indians host the Louisville Bats for Star Wars Night at Victory Field. You can dress up as your favorite character, and the Indians will have Star Wars-themed activities throughout the night.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
