INDIANAPOLIS -- A child was critical injured Wednesday afternoon in an ATV vs car crash on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Lyons and Bradbury avenues.

A 5-year-old boy was rushed to Riley Hospital f or Children in critical condition following the crash. A 17-year-old male also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were identified as 17-year-old Justin Bishop and 5-year-old Brayson Matney. 

The driver of the car was not injured, according to police.

Police said Bishop was driving the ATV with Matney sitting on the handlebars when they turned into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Neither boy was wearing any safety equipment.

Neighbors told RTV6 they have often seen a little boy riding the ATV along Lyons and Bradbury.

"They drive up and down the alley," said neighbor Robin Slatn. "They drive up and down the road. They don't look where they are going."
