INDIANAPOLIS — If you went to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in 2019, you were not alone. The museum set an attendance record in the just-completed year, breaking the previous mark set in 2009.

The record, 1,318,915 , was announced Thursday by museum President and CEO Dr. Jeffrey Patchen. "We have a strong commitment to create and offer fun and imaginative exhibits that feature something for young children to grandparents," said Patchen. "We strive to make every family learning experience extraordinary, interactive and fun for every generation."

Record attendance is also attributed to more families than ever becoming museum members, some 36,000.

The 2019 numbers are slightly ahead of the previous record year, 2009. That was the year the museum hosted a King Tut exhibit.
