GREENFIELD, Ind. -- BeijingWest Industries, a China-based company that designs and supplies brake and suspension systems, will open their first U.S. production facility in Indiana in 2019.
The new opening will create up to 441 new jobs by 2021 within the state of Indiana. The Beijing-headquartered company will invest $80 million into the new 276,514-square-foot manufacturing facility in Greenfield's Progress Park.
BWI supplies parts for auto industry brands like Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, General Motors, Honda and Porsche.
Groundbreaking is expected to take place this summer with a completion goal of August 2019.
“BWI is excited to be working with the state of Indiana and Hancock County on this extremely important project," said John Beres III, assistant president and global director of BWI. "We are appreciative of the support given to us at the state and local level. This plant will expand our North American footprint to support our U.S. customer base.”
BWI officials said the company generated $2 billion of new business in 2016 and plans to increase its production by four million parts per year.

To keep up with demand, the company will begin hiring machine operators, maintenance and lab technicians in February 2018. Officials said these positions are expected to pay more than the state wage average.
BWI also plans to partner with Ivy Tech to assist with workforce training.
“BWI had options when deciding where to locate its first U.S. facility, and I’m thrilled they chose the Hoosier state,” Governor Eric J. Holcomb said. “Indiana is home to the second largest automotive industry in the nation, and we offer companies like BWI close proximity to their customers. As a state, we must continue to provide the skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure and pro-growth tax climate that attracts and supports business and residents.”
