INDIANAPOLIS -- The Christmas holiday season is off to a sour note at one far-west side apartment complex.
An argument over holiday decorations turned into a physical altercation that landed one man in jail on felony charges.
At the Wyckford Commons Apartments, the neighbors share a common porch, and little else.
Cleveland Jeffrey Johnson, 35, went to jail for residential entry and battery. His neighbor Donald Newlin wasn't talking.
Newlin put up Christmas lights across the common porch of both townhomes, and shortly thereafter, was asked by Johnson to take them down. Newlin refused, and that's when, police say, Johnson tore them down and forced his way into Newlin's apartment and began choking him.
The fight was broken up by the women living with both combatants.
