INDIANAPOLIS -- Friends, family and fellow officers from around the country visited Crown Hill Friday to pay their respects to a fallen central Indiana officer killed in the line of duty.
Lt. Aaron Allan was shot and killed last week while trying to help a man who had just been in a car accident.
Friday’s visitation was open to the public who filed in throughout the day, the line backing out of the building and almost into the street.
A flag ceremony was held during the visitation, honoring Lt. Allan and his service. The folded flag was placed next to Lt. Allan’s uniform and other belongings that were on display. That flag will be presented to Lt. Allan’s wife at his funeral on Saturday.

Agencies from around the country are in Indiana this weekend to support Lt. Allan’s family.
A group of officers from Texas also presented Lt. Allan’s family with a small check.
“I told Stacy I was from Ft. Worth Texas and it was an honor to travel and to be a part of her service and a part of her family today,” said Forth Worth Police Department Officer J.R. Barron. “That we really appreciate her sacrifice and her family’s sacrifice and the sacrifice that her husband gave.”

Those officers wanted to express their gratitude to local law enforcement in Indiana for their support last year when five Dallas officers were killed in the line of duty.
“You work with these guys every day,” said Dallas Police Department Officer Roy Moreno. “You do the same job and you know what they’ve done. You know they wake up every morning. They have a family and it hits home.”
Lt. Allan’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
