ELKHART, Ind. –  The mother charged with the murder of her two children shared with police that she smothered them to death.

On Sept. 26, just before 1 p.m., the Allen County Sheriffs Department issued an Amber Alert for Liliana Hernandez, 7, and Rene Pasztor, 6. The children were believed to have been abducted by their non-custodial mother, Amber Pasztor.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Amber flagged down a member of the Elkhart Police Department saying her children were dead in the back of her vehicle.

The children were confirmed dead at the scene.

When asked what happened to them, Amber said she “smothered them.”

During her interview with detectives, Amber said she kicked down the door of her father’s home, took the children, traveled to Elkhart, then smothered them until they died.
