CENTERVILLE, Ind. -- A serious crash involving several vehicles left one person dead and shut down part of I-70 on Sunday.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m., and it forced all lanes of I-70 eastbound near Centerville Rd. to be closed. Indiana State Police say two semis and two passengers cars were involved, and that the crash occurred in a construction zone.
Traffic was already backed up for five miles at the construction zone when police say an eastbound semi traveling too fast for traffic approached. The semi glanced off a vehicle and then ran into the left lane, where traffic was stopped, pushing a car under another semi. A person in the car died at the scene, police said.
Neither of the semi drivers involved, nor anyone in the other passenger car was hurt.
I-70 has since reopened in the area.
