INDIANAPOLIS – A Fishers man was arrested Monday in connection with a deadly accident on I-465 that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl.
State troopers took Stanton Bowie Jr., 28, into custody after he was released from the hospital.
Bowie Jr. was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death and taken to the Marion County Jail. The charge carries an enhancement to a level four felony due to a previous OWI conviction within the last ten years.
Rosie Amis, 14, died from injuries she sustained in the two-vehicle crash on I-465 northbound Saturday afternoon.
State police say a car driven by Bowie Jr. was headed north on I-465 when it went sideways and into the path of a van. The van hit the passenger side of the car where Amis was seated.
Both Amis and Bowie Jr. were unresponsive when troopers arrived on the scene. They were taken to different hospitals in critical condition. No one else was hurt in the crash.
Troopers say evidence found in Bowie Jr.'s car and personal obvervations indicated that alcoholic beverages may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
