INDIANAPOLIS -- A thief was caught on camera Saturday morning installing a credit card skimmer in a bank ATM.

It happened at The National Bank of Indianapolis off Ditch Road just before 6 a.m.

Bank workers reviewing the surveillance footage saw the suspect installing the device. Customers say it makes them worry about their hard-earned cash.

"It feels like you have to constantly watch your money when you're supposed to feel like the banks are secure enough to hold your cash or your funds in the account," said Jennifer Neely, who has previously had her bank information stolen.

Police say you should look closely at any device where you swipe a credit or debit card. If you see something that looks suspicious or out of the ordinary, don't use it.

A skimmer works by lifting credit card information when cards are swiped at ATMs or gas pumps. The device is placed over the normal card reader in the machine, leaving customers with no knowledge of what took place.
