JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.. -- Emergency crews were called to rescue a driver stranded by floodwaters in Johnson County over the weekend.

Chuck Ogara wound up stuck on a stretch of County Road 250 South Sunday night in his Cadillac El Dorado when he tried to drive through a flooded area.

"I went through the first water OK, but when I got to the second water I stalled out and the electrics in the car just went crazy," Ogara said.

Emergency crews were eventually called to rescue him by boat.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said stories like Ogara's are all too common when it floods.

"This could cost somebody their life," Cox said. "Not only could it cost them their life, but their insurance company is probably not going to be happy with them for having tried to cross through that water."

While Ogara's car was damaged, he sustained no injuries. He says he's "disappointed" in himself for trying to drive through the water.
