1 dead, 1 injured in double-shooting at Shelby County home

UPDATE: The man who died in the shooting has been identified as Joseph A. Harris, 39, of Fountaintown, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

SHELBY COUNTY — One man is dead and another was injured Monday night in a double-shooting in rural Shelby County, police said.

Major Chris Holder with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department said deputies found the men after they responded around 9:40 p.m. to a shooting at a home in the 11000 block of North State Road 9.

A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 67-year-old man was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Holder said. Police have not identified either man.

Investigators do not believe anybody else was involved.

Police have not released information about what led to the shooting, which remains under investigation.
