INDIANAPOLIS -- A shooting victim discovered by police while they were investigating another shooting has died.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched just after 6:15 p.m. Wednesday to Maidstone Road for a report of a person shot. The officers found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The officers learned that the incident has happened at an apartment on Lynnfield Court in the same apartment complex. There, they discovered the second male victim who was in critical condition.

Both victims were driven to area hospitals, but the second victim died. The first victim's condition is stable, police said.

Investigators canvassed the area for witnesses and collected potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office will assist in determining the exact manner and cause of death.

Police asked anyone with information to call the homicide office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
