1 person dead, another critically injured in shooting on west side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman died and a man was critically injured in a shooting early Thursday on the west side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the shooting just after 1:30 a.m. that occurred in the 3000 block of North High School Road. When they arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, IMPD Officer Samone Burris said in a news release.

Wilma Hochstetler, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. No information was provided about a possible suspect or what led to the shooting.
