INDIANAPOLIS — One person was shot to death early Friday on the northeast side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Major Harold Turner said police received calls after 2 a.m. from people who said they heard gunshots in the 3300 block of North Ashland Avenue, near East 34th Street and Shadeland Avenue.

Police initially did not find anyone, but residents told officers a person who appeared to have been shot ran into a nearby yard. Police went to the front yard of a house where they found a male victim. Medics pronounced Rashaad Germany Jr., 18, dead at the scene.

In April 2024, IMPD announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man for his role in this crime. At the time of the crime, the man was 17 years old.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
