TIPPECANOE COUNTY — A 13-year-old girl was arrested after detectives say she intentionally set a fire that destroyed a home in Tippecanoe County late Tuesday evening.
Firefighters were called the home in the 2200 block of Longspur Drive for a report of a fire.
After the fire was under control and all of the occupants were safe, detectives with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office spoke to witnesses and the homeowners and determined that the fire was likely intentionally set.
Investigators believed the fire started outside of the home and later determined that it was likely set by a 13-year-old girl that lives in the area.
The child was taken into custody and is preliminarily charged with arson.
Anyone with information about the fire or arrest should contact Lt. Brian Lowe at 765-423-9388.
