15-year-old killed in shooting outside Indy apartment complex accidentally shot himself, IMPD says

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a 15-year-old who died after being shot early Friday morning accidentally shot himself.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the North Willow Apartments on Pemberton Lane near 86th Street and Ditch Road around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Arriving officers found a 15-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound outside an apartment complex in the area.

Police say three teens were hanging out and doing something around a vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex when one of them was shot and killed. The teen that was hit was the same one who pulled the trigger. His identity has not been released.

Police are still working to determine exactly what took place.

The shooting remains under investigation.
