3 arrested in connection with Columbus homicide

COLUMBUS — An Illinois man and two others have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting last month in the parking lot of a Columbus business.

Leonardo Rodriguez-Flores, 37, was found shot to death Feb. 26 outside Tool Dynamics in the 800 block of South Marr Road.

According to a release from the Columbus Police Department, Eliel Avelar, 31, of Midlothian, Ill., was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Chicago hotel on a murder warrant. Avelar is in custody in Cook County, Ill.

After an investigation by the Bartholomew County Death Investigation Team, police also arrested Abraham Jimenez Cesareo, 35, of Columbus, and Eladia Jacobo-Ortiz, 35, of Columbus, on preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit serious bodily injury.

Both are being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on $500,000 bonds.
