Anderson city assistant attorney resigns after arrest

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Evan Broderick, the assistant city attorney of Anderson, has resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving last month.

Broderick, 36, is also the son of Anderson Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr. 

Police arrested the younger Broderick on Sept. 5 after investigating a crash into a a utility pole near the intersection fo W. 8th Street and Raible Avenue. Officers found evidence of a crash, but no car. 

An officer followed a trail of car parts down the street to a parking lot nearby, where Broderick was sitting in a running car. Edgewood Police Chief Andy Ellingwood said Broderick smelled of alcohol.

Broderick has also served as a Madison County deputy prosecutor, according to his website.
