SPEEDWAY - One person was injured during an officer-involved shooting in Speedway late Friday evening.

Officers were conducting an investigation in the 5900 block of West 25th Street around 11:30 p.m. when they encountered an individual who fled from them for an unknown reason, according to a press release issued from the Speedway Police Department.

During the subsequent foot chase, the suspect allegedly displayed a weapon resulting in an officer-involved shooting. It is unclear if there were any shots fired at the officer.

The suspect was transferred to Eskenazi Hospital to be treated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to Speedway Police.

The officer was not injured.

The Speedway Police Department tells WRTV that their officers are equipped with body cameras. They have not confirmed whether the officer involved was wearing one or if it was activated during the incident.
