MUNCIE — The Delaware County Sheriff's bomb squad was called to a Muncie house after a possible live pipe bomb was found while police conducted a search warrant Monday evening.

Muncie police officers searched a house in the 2200 block of S. Elm St. as part of an investigation into a previous shooting, Delaware County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley said.

During the search, officers found what appeared to be a suspicious device and called the bomb squad to investigate. Stanley said the bomb squad determined the device was a possible live pipe bomb, which was removed from the house and will be handled at a remote location.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is assisting in the investigation, and Stanley said any evidence will be sent to the ATF lab for analysis.
