INDIANAPOLIS -- A brazen theft left a student living in downtown Indianapolis with a large bill after all four tires and rims were stolen from his SUV.

The theft happened sometime early Saturday morning near the intersection of 14th Street and Delaware Street.

Jake Seiler said he had just moved into the neighborhood and parked his father’s SUV and trailer in front of the home because he thought it would be safe.

But when he woke up Saturday morning, he found the SUV on cinder blocks and his tires and rims were gone.

“I felt like I was in a movie,” said Seiler. “I never would have imagined that I would walk out to my car literally on cinder blocks.”

The family said it cost them more than $4,000 to replace the tires and rims and they aren’t sure if their insurance will recover the cost of the theft.

The company that fixed the SUV tells RTV6 that they have had to respond to help with about half a dozen similar crimes in the past few years.
