INDIANAPOLIS — A carjacking led to a wild scene on Indianapolis' northeast side early Monday morning.

Officers first responded to the area of 42nd Street and Post Road around 3 a.m. for a report of a carjacking. Shortly after the report was made, a Lawrence Police Department officer spotted the stolen vehicle on Shadeland Avenue and attempted to make a stop. When the driver refused to pull over a pursuit began.

During the brief pursuit, officers say at least one shot was fired toward officers. Lawrence police say their officers did not return fire and no one was struck.

The pursuit ended when the car slid off the road at Lennington Road and Irwin Avenue and all three people inside the vehicle were taken into custody. It is unclear who will face charges at this time.

Because the chase crossed over jurisdictions, Lawrence police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are both working the investigation.
