MUNCIE — A 35-year-old Anderson man, suspected of being an impaired driver, faces charges in Delaware County for causing a crash which took the life of a reserve police officer.

36-year-old Kevin Noble of Muncie was a reserve officer with the Gaston Police Department, outside Muncie. He was driving a van on State Road 67 on July 16 when his vehicle was hit by a pickup which had crossed the highway's center line.

Colin Estes was at the wheel of the pickup. After a five-month investigation, he was charged with causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a controlled substance, and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance.

A probable cause affidavit was filed with Delaware County Circuit Court this week. Estes was arrested and posted bond. He'll appear in court again on February 3.

According to an obituary posted by the Garden View Funeral Home in Muncie, Noble was described as "a real man and a giver, with a big heart," who loved spending time with his wife and two daughters.
