INDIANAPOLIS — Karl Woodall is already serving a 63-year sentence for a March 2017 Indianapolis murder. He was sentenced Wednesday to 60 additional years for a separate killing, also in March 2017.
That's a total of 123 years for Woodall, who is 38.
The latest sentence is for the murder of James Sapp, an Indianapolis man shot to death inside an east side apartment.
A police investigation determined a dispute between Woodall and Sapp over money, drugs and a gun was behind the killing.
Three weeks after Sapp died, 37-year-old Stefanie Coulson was murdered at her east side home. An autopsy showed she was shot "multiple times" and stabbed more than 30 times.
Police said Woodall and Coulson knew each other and had augured over her use of his van without his knowledge.
A Marion County jury convicted Woodall in the Coulson murder last year.
In reaction to the sentence, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears stated, “Woodall proved himself to be extremely dangerous. The successful prosecution of these cases ensures that our community is protected from further violence by this individual.”
