INDIANAPOLIS -- A Marion County detention officer was sent for medical treatment Sunday after she was attacked by a 14-year-old resident at the juvenile detention center.
According to a report documenting the incident – which happened on Sunday but wasn't documented until Tuesday – a 14-year-old girl currently housed at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center repeatedly punched and kicked a 28-year-old detention officer.
The injuries were reportedly serious enough that the officer was sent to the medical clinic for follow-up treatment.
The 14-year-old girl was placed in isolation following the incident.
The incident is at least the second time in several months that a guard was injured by a juvenile inmate in Marion County.

In June, a 15-year-old boy reportedly used his shirt to choke a detention officer. Police said he then knocked her to the floor, slamming her head against the ground.
That juvenile then reportedly attempted to attack a second guard, who was able to subdue him and take him into custody without injury.
The 14-year-old girl involved in Sunday’s incident could face an additional charge of battery in connection with the alleged attack.
