INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman who was severely burned in a 2013 fire died of complications from her injuries earlier this year, and has now been ruled a homicide, according to IMPD.
Wouround Al Robayi, 29, suffered burns over 65 percent of her body in a fire at her apartment near Northwestway Park on the northwest side on May 13, 2013.
Emergency responders arrived to find Robayi severely burned in the kitchen and her husband, Firas Al Delfi, suffering from burns to his hands.
Investigators found a bottle of lighter fluid in the couple’s bedroom, along with a trail of burned particles tracing all the way down to the kitchen.
Al Delfi was charged with his wife’s attempted murder in November 2013. He was found not guilty by a jury in September 2015.
According to IMPD, Al Robayi died Jan. 5 of this year of complications of thermal injuries. The Marion County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide.
