The Marion County Prosecutor's Office announced it's seeking the death penalty against a man charged with killing Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Breann Leath.

Elliahs Dorsey is accused of shooting and killing Leath on April 9, 2020.

Police say Dorsey fired shots through a door, striking Leath as officers responded to a disturbance call.

While the Prosecutor's decision to pursue the death penalty means this case is moving forward, it's also possible the case may not make it to a jury for another three years.

In the video above, WRTV's Rafael Sanchez speaks to both the Marion County Prosecutor and Leath's mother about the death penalty request.
