INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men were hospitalized after overdosing and crashing on a busy interstate ramp Wednesday morning in downtown Indianapolis, police said.
Police were called to the East Street ramp near the South Split of I-65 and I-70 around 10:30 a.m. The van had crashed into a garage near the ramp. Troopers with the Indiana State Police found the driver and a passenger both unconscious.
Medics arrived and administered Narcan, which blocks the effects of opioids.
"They both appeared to be overdosing," ISP Trooper Matt Beaver said.
The passenger was taken away on a stretcher, while the other man walked to the ambulance after the Narcan dose. The driver told investigators he bought and used heroin just before the crash happened.
