MARTINSVILLE — More than half a dozen people were arrested over the weekend in drug related incidents in Martinsville.
City of Martinsville Police Department officers took eight suspects into custody in three separate incidents. During one of those arrests over 700 syringes, 270 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm were also confiscated. Five subjects were taken into custody from that incident alone.
Martinsville Police Chief Rodger Wiltermood called the weekend arrests a win for the department and their fight against drugs, “The department, Patrol Division and our street officers have done a great job in getting drugs and offenders off the street. This is showing me the morale of the department is picking back up.”
The suspects all face charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and visiting a common nuisance.
