NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says a 39-year-old Elwood man was killed Friday when another driver failed to yield the right-of-way and crashed into his vehicle.
Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 266th Street and Rulon Road around 3 p.m. Friday on a report of a vehicle crash with multiple victims. The sheriff’s department said callers reported at least one person was trapped inside a vehicle.
The officers arrived to find a Nissan Frontier driven by Daniel H. Jessop Jr., 72, of Arcadia, had reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way and crashed into a Saturn Ion being driven by William R. Morris, 39, of Elwood.
Morris was located trapped inside his vehicle and suffering from multiple injuries.
According to initial evidence, deputies said they believe Jessop’s foot may have slipped from the brake to the accelerator prior to the crash.
Medics who responded to the scene pronounced Morris dead of his injuries. Jessop and passengers in both vehicles were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said toxicology tests were performed, but the results would not be available for some time.
