INDIANAPOLIS — Federal authorities are continuing to search for a man wanted for his alleged involvement in drug racketeering, including murder in aid of racketeering, between 2015 and 2018 in Indiana and Texas.
The FBI Indianapolis Division on Monday released an FBI wanted poster for Juan Alberto Mendez, who is believed to be 46.
Mendez, a known member of the Gulf Cartel, has two outstanding federal arrest warrants.
In September 2015 he was charged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana in Fort Wayne with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
A second federal warrant was issued in May 2018 out of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston after Mendez was charged with conspiracy to participate in racketeering activity, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering and kidnapping resulting in death.
According to the FBI, Mendez should be considered armed and dangerous as well as an escape risk.
